As of now, Apple, which holds a significant market share in the tablet business, has its largest iPad model at 12.9 inches. Recent reports had claimed that the company was working on a larger iPad model, breaking from its tradition. However, this doesn’t seem to be the case. Mark Gurman, known for his close ties to the company, recently discussed Apple’s work on iPads.
Isn’t Apple going to release the big-screen iPad model?
After transitioning to its in-house M-series chips for Mac models, Apple has completely changed its strategy. Claims that Apple is working on a 14-inch iPad Pro are not true. Mark Gurman stated that such a device is not part of the company’s future product portfolio.
Of course, it should not be assumed that this particular tablet was never considered. Evaluations within the company concluded that transitioning to OLED panels for iPads would increase the cost of larger screens. This suggests that the 14-inch iPad Pro project has been shelved.
It is rumored that Apple’s first iPad Pro models with OLED displays could offer storage options of up to 4TB. If these rumors are true, users will receive a significant storage upgrade. This is attributed to the transition to OLED screens and the addition of advanced ProRes video recording features, which are expected to increase consumers’ storage needs. Finally, OLED screen versions of the 11-inch iPad Pro and 12.9-inch iPad Pro are expected to be introduced in early 2024.
